I always used the 30 years license key, from Avast Free 6 to 8.

Now, on 1 pc I updated Avast 8 to 9 2014 and the license remains ok, it expires on 2038.

On another pc, with a fresh Avast 9 installation, the same license code said Expired.

A 30 year key is a cracked/Pirated key so don t expect any help on this forum : title Angry class smiley

Sorry, i thought it was ok that serial, it worked all version from 6 to 8 and it was all ok.

I always use the free version of Avast.

So i think the solution is install version 8 then upgrade, just to mantain the license.

I suggest not using this pirated key at all.  Pirated/cracked license keys for a product is illegal : title Angry class smiley

Any one know how to solve this problem.

My friend is wondering if it can.

I have Firefox with Noscript, Adblock Plus and WOT set to block, Malwarebytes, Avast Free 8, Comodo Firewall 6, Sandboxie set to let only my browser have internet/running access and common sense. _

Dell Inspiron, Win10x64--HP Envy Win10x64--Both systems Avast Free v2016.11.1.2247 beta, Comodo Firewall v8.2 w/D, MalwareBytes Anti-Malware Premium, MalwareBytes Anti-Exploit Premium, Super Anti-Spyware, Spyware Blaster, MCShield, Unchecky, Firefox latest build, Chrome latest build and, various browser security tools.

Look before you leap. Use online scanners before you click on any link.

Yeah the browser protection module will block the site, I have had it block a couple when I had enabled.

When I was trying out the browser protection AOS I found that it did

nothing in the way of site blocking. It was always the web shield that

You d better have these avast. shields enabled always.

This is the very best part of the overall avast detection and it is very accurate too.

It blocks access to these sites upon detection,

so your computer do not even connects out to malcode and cannot connect to it period.

Disabling it or making exclusions is putting your computer s security on the line.

I know I have been figthing these malsite contents  from within the trenches on the virus and worms every day over the last 10 years.

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe r.

Well in my case I know it wasnt the webshield blocking it because at the time I had a extension that acted as a proxy enabled and avast wasnt scanning my webtraffic in Dragon. The extension still blocked the page.

Edit: I use the webshield, just at the time because of the extension the traffic wasnt being scanned. I dont use the proxy extension anymore anyway.

Looking for answers i saw 2 topics here for the same problem but it was almost a year ago.. Is it another bug.. Should i do somethong to fix it. Should I be worried..

No matter what I can t get WP8 emulator internet connection to work if I keep firewall enabled. Firewall is set to allow all connection for Xde.exe. I ve also tried unticking this:

I m not certain but I think it worked a while but suddenly it just doesn t.

Huh Ticking Internet Connection Sharing mode seems to fix this. Kinda makes sense, considering how Hyper-V network stuff works

Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center x64 Avast IS MBAM on-demand

Unfortunately, this was earlier today on a client s laptop and I can t remember the exact message. When you download Avast. these days it only downloads an installer, which then proceeds to download the whole thing. I wanted to install Avast. on the client s laptop but the installer said it was unable to download the main program. I rebooted and tried again and it still failed. I ended up installing Microsoft Security Essentials instead.

So I ve been looking for a full Avast. offline installer, but they don t seem to provide that any more. You probably don t care but you just lost another customer for your free product, guys. I can t see me recommending Avast. to friends and colleagues if the installer chokes on the main download.

AMD A6-5350M APU with Radeon HD Graphics, 8.0GB RAM, Win7 Pro SP1 64bit, IE11

i7-3610QM 2.3GHZ, 8.0GB Ram,  Nvidia GeForce GT 630M 2GB, Win7 Pro SP1 64bit, IE 11

Common to both: AIS 2016.11.1.2245, WinPatrol Plus, SpywareBlaster 5.4, Opera 12.17, Firefox 43.0.4, MBam Free, MCShield, CCleaner

- your system is Windows XP for me, XP professional SP3,

- and it s in drive C of FAT32,

- and you want to install avast 2014 ver. 9.0.2013.292 on drive D of NTFS

You are to meet the unprotected problem like me after a reboot 146627.0, I can bet.

But if you change some setting, either the drive format or the installation position of avast i.e. to C, the problem will not occur. Only the combination above goes wrong.

This is my conclusion after tens of tests, all of which follow the same procedure: setup XP, install avast. I ve reported it as a bug  to the developpers.

Wish the next distribution have this patched.

Wouldn t mind if  i could find some way to be notifid of new betas

You used to be able to sign up for the beta testing on the main avast.com site, but I can t recall the URL.

I have never signed up to it being a frequent forum user I get to see it once released.

Whilst that should do the trick, you will get a notification for any new post in the Beta sub-forum as it is a forum level notify option, some might find that excessive.

I thought the same but.. maybe not. It was worth a shot to see.

Not getting notifications of new posts - only the new beta, so far.

Since around begin this year I ve been starting to get blue screens of death, I was abl to ignore them popping up sometimes, but now the frequency excuse me for my English, it s not my first language of these blue screens is getting way too high. once a day now, instead of once per 3 weeks.

Pastebin to what WhoCrashed indicates:

Does anybody have any idea if I can fix this thing.

Jellp what version of Avast do you use. Latest version is 9.0.2013.

Got the latest version 9.0.2013 and used the repair option like Eddy said, will report back tomorrow if any BSOD s eccoured.

So far there are no BSOD s, will notify if one happens. But Thank you for fixing it, hopefully permanent.

THis morning I gotten another BSOD, same error. Using free edition. If more info is needed please ask.

OS: Windows 7 Professional SP 1

SUPERAntiSpyware v5.7.1018 Installed, Real-Time protection disabled

Malwarebytes v1.75.0.1300 Disabled

AVG Uninstalled incorrectly, right click gives the option to scan with AVG but there don t seem to be any AVG files on my computer.

in fact bsod s are so strange things i think it is impossible for ordinary users to figure out what the exact reason. even if they would read logs and use utilities for that. maybe software, maybe hardware. who konows.

Thank you for another method, will be trying them soon

Try this software to look at the minidumps the BSODs create.

It ll tell you the driver causing the issue.

Thanks so much thekochs. I have just posted a new topic re BSOD error 50 and this looks like it will resolve things for me. Have been trying to find a way to open. dmp files so this looks like a lifesaver. Will let you know how it goes. Thanks again.

The post I referred to never made it for some reason so will post here since a BSOD issue. Blue screen viewer was great and enables me to attach results so that people with more knowledge than I can advise.

Thanks to David R and Asyn for their comments in Avast Update 2013 topic.

XP Pro SP3 ZA. Updated Avast Free via GUI, previous version was 8.. . and advised update would be to later version but not 2014.9.0.2013. On restart, BSOD, error 50, after log in and as desktop being populated. Restarted again, but same result. Start in safe mode and OK with avast reporting service not started. But this OK since in Safe. Noted that avast had upodated to 2014.9.0.2013. Removed Avast from start up and attempted normal start but same BSOD. Started in Safe again and used avast repair, CCleaner, MBAM but these all OK with no problems. Also noted that all system restore points had been removed. Restart normal and same BSOD. No new software or hardware involved.

This is third time this has happened with an attempted update and had to load back up image to resume normal operation with previous version of avast free. Previously had used avastclear to try to do clean instal instead of update but clearly some remnants of previous version still remained since it reported a Unregistered but could not register, content unavailable 2 Registered but 0 days remaining.

Have always used avast free for many years and updates went OK on two other PCs,  XP Pro and XP Home. Have a minidump of this last BSOD but so far have been unable to open dmp extension. Tried to load Windows debugging tool from SDK page on second PC but no success, suspect need NeT Framework 4 and I only have 3.5 to do this. Have attached minidump for your perusal but see that it is not one of allowed file types but will try anyway. Do not really want to go back to image again so would appreciate any help. PS As expected no upload of dmp file, pity. PPS Txt file of minidump from Bluescreenview attached now.

It s not often that I feel like or play the idiot when I m on a computer, but humor me here.  I apologize if this sounds like a rant, but what I ve read tonight doesn t make sense to me.

Avast. was recommended to me years ago by a coworker.  I just reinstalled Windows 8 and upgraded to 8.1 on my computer and decided to install Avast..  Then I used Avast. to scan someone s external hard drive and it found Win32:Malware-gen in a file.  I didn t know what that is, so I started poking around.

First, Avast. s scan log gives me zero information about it except a name, a file, and a threat level.  What is Win32:Malware-gen.  Where can I get more information.  In fact, I can t find much useful information about the program itself on Avast. s website or in the program.  But that s another conversation   All I get is a list of found threats and a button to fix them.

Second, I hit up Avast. s website and find my way to the forums.  I search for Win32:Malware-gen and find a number of posts on downloading software to analyze and remove Win32:Malware-gen whatever it is.   The thought occurs to me:  if Avast. is an antivirus program, why do I need to download other programs to figure out what the virus is.  Afterall, Avast. found it, so it should be able to tell me what it is.  Otherwise, how can I trust that Avast. knows how to remove it when I click the fix button.

So finally I go to Google.  I find the most direct information I can get about it in a trojan removal guide on Malware Tips: Win32.Malware-Gen refers to a range of malware applications that infect computers running a 32-bit version of the Windows operating system.   Well, that s something at least--even if it s not directly useful.

Summary: Avast. found some vague threat on this hard drive that s generically categorized as a range of malware.   It can t tell me what it is specifically, but it says that it can clean it for me.

Conclusions and final thoughts:

I still don t know what Win32:Malware-gen isIf Avast. can t tell me what bad thing it found then how can I trust Avast. to know how to get rid of it.If Avast. can get rid of it then why do I need the other software constantly referred to in the forums.  Malwarebytes, OTL, aswMBR, MCShield, RogueKiller, etc.

Thanks for listening to me, and any input/feedback you have would be appreciated.

I m running XP Pro Win 7 x64 dual boot at the moment. The Scan history in the Avast GUI shows 4 lines at a time in XP, but only one in Win 7. The scrollbar looks as it might not be right to me. See the Win 7 screenshot.

Both run Avast Free v2014.9.0.2013

Could you provide more information.

an unwary user getting an infection.

Link goes to a screenshot of his avast pop up.. that show his problem

Difficult to understand his english, but i dont think that website is the problem but something in the computer trying to phone home.

Why does it say my subscription has expired when I just bought in Jan for a year and now it s March. This has got to be an absolute joke. I paid it so what the hell is going. I want this fixed now I am paid up so get it sorted

Hi a few details would be nice  Do you have the licence file that was sent to you by e-mail.

Have you copied the avastlic attachment to your desktop

Have you double clicked the licence to insert it.

1. Your avast. installation has somehow gone corrupt

2. Your PC time/date is incorrect

3. You could be using an outdated license file, to get your current one :

Could you ensure that you have tried the resend license link and checked if your PC date/time is correct.

AVAST. Free AV  update/latest  2014.9.0.2013

Problem I have is that I cannot view a work HTTPS:// website

The page ends up misaligned and funky looking.

If I disable the Avast Online Security Addon from IE v9 the website is normal and I can do my work.

When you Disable Shields from the tray menu, it does not disable the IE Addon.

So WebShield does not have anything to do with the OnlineSecurity Addon. They are separate. Is it possible to disable that particular addon and just that one when I disable the WebShield.

I can not run IE with Addon/Exts disabled because our work Web Appplication uses a activex component. And I tried running it with the switch, but that caused our web application to think it wasnt installed correctly.

So Can I disable the Online Security addon with script. Anything to enable and/or disable for a specfic time

hey and welcome to the forum. you can easy uninstall the addon through the internet addon management.

Windows 8.1 amd a10-5700 64 bit

The AOS avast online security is either on or off.

There is no way to disable it for a definite preriod of time.

It can be disabled in Firefox, also IE11.

Train your mind to see the good in every situation.

I was hoping to do this automatically, and not manually. I started a powerscript which is almost done. Will post.

I started using the free version of Avast about a month ago and began to have problems with Internet Explorer.  Some websites would not open in Internet Explorer and while in some websites, I could not enter data, etc.  After trying everything I could think of, I reset Internet Explorer and began reloading the toolbars one by one.  Everything worked fine until I enabled the Avast toolbar when my problems came back. After disabling the toolbars everything works fine.  Has anyone else had this problem.  I am using Windows 7 and Internet Explorer 10.  The Avast toolbar also slowed the internet down a lot.

You can either disable the avast online security in your browser or uninstall the browser protection module.

To uninstallControl Panel Uninstall a Program double click avast click change untick browser protection reboot

The AOS has very little to do with security and can be safely disabled or uninstalled. The web shield will handle the protection.

You could also install the latest beta 9.0.2015 which has fixed many issues with AOS, the beta is functioning well here

Interesting this is the same IP address as the Enhanced Privacy EU issue I had about a week ago.

I ran it on virus total and got 0/51

Just installed DNTM about a week ago and getting a conflict since. I see several threads here about a similar conflict with Adblock but I still don t know how to resolve it. Can anyone help.

There is a direct conflict between the AOS and Do Not Track Me.

You must decide on one or the other. I m not sure as to why, but

they do basically the same thing.

And the AOS is . Obviously to do with avast. but, the whole thing or a feature of it. Forgive my ignorance

And the AOS is Avast Online Security a Browser Plugin/Add-on   It is  listed as Browser Protection module when doing Custom Install and can be unchecked/not installed or checked/Installed.

Ok, I ve disabled DNTM. It s a little too obtrusive anyway. And thank you for the AOS education, schmidthouse

My computer is very unstable since yesterday.  Frequently can t access Internet from browsers, and Chrome remote installation program never succeeds, and downloading a commercial software stored in. rar files from a commercial website is always failed.  I m just ready to restore my whole computer, but I suddenly found when I disable Avast for 10min, everything work flawlessly on-the-fly.  I ve been using Avast free and ask my clients to buy it for years.  But this is a horrible experience of my using Avast.

My current Avast free version is 2014.9.0.2013 and definition is 140313-1.  I m in Win7 x64.

I have a Windows7 Home Premium edition and I have free version of Avast installed.

Laptop was running fine till morning, but now when I turned it on, I cant see any of my windows users, it is showing only one user AvastSoftwareUpdater and asking for password to login.

I have no idea how this all happened, I just want to get back my laptop up and running with my data.

PS this message is posted from my work laptop, which also has Avast Free version, lets hope this one doesnt come up with same issue

Since i upgraded to avast. Internet Security, there is no contact to my keyboard, i got the below answer but it does not help, need support ASAP as i use my PC all day

Try to find out which shield or Firewall makes the connection fail, if any:

You can access individual shields via the main avast. interface, Settings - Active Protection - stop one shield, try reconnecting the keyboard, see for the result, re-enable the shield and move on to the next one. At the end try the same procedure for avast. Firewall, if you have it in your antivirus version.

Imagine that two years renewal at 45 off and then the uninstall of an already renewed paid product.

Let logic intervenerenew and be done with it. It ain t that difficult.

I haven t gotten any 45 off since I haven t renewed my license, and probably won t. I didn t post here to get some discount.

I wanted to tell Avast that the pop-up is super annoying and leaves a bad taste of their product in mouth.

Yes Eddy I agree with you I would soon have a reminder of some sort such as a popup letting me now that I need to register avast free or any avast product instead of having no protection.  I think is a very important thing to have whether it is a popup or just a reminder once every few days.

Windows 10 Home Edition  64 Bit

I realise the thread is old however I found it bu googling Avast. annoying popups.

So it appears I m not the only one, if you do google the above phrase there are loads of them. My biggest surprise was the way the admin guy treated the customer - have to say not very professional, don t know all the story, are you paid or a volunteer or just a forum helper. I m amazed at the level of agression shown in such a short space of time. Th customer clearly annoyed by the apparent ruination of a product asks an almost rhetorical question and gets flamed.

Anyway I just thought I d register to add my comments as I m too getting a little fed up with the irritating motivational popups. If you want to improve your product then just put them back how they were -simple or go the way of the other free-to-paid anvtiviruses.

I have the same issue. I m using a paid license and I plan to renew it. But I still have like 20 days and every single damn day I m getting at least 3 times popups in the center of the screen with special offer and small popup in the bottom right reminding me. I think this need a box saying Don t show this message anymore until the license expire. We are not dumb, if we want to renew we will renew, but is annoying when somebody try to force insert the spoon in your mouth. Just saying

Hi, Please send to me my license file. I m already running my machine unprotected and this is not funny at all. You charge me without sending the  file, who does that.. Pleassssssssss I need the license file.

I resent your license based on your request in our support system - IKZ-777-84305.

i have a small home network, IIS running on machine A and MSSQL server on machine B.

when executing the website on machine A, data is retrieved from machine B MSSQL default port is 1433.

machine B has avast. INTERNET SUCURITY.

when the. avast firewall is disabled, everything works.

when the. avast firewall is enabled, communication with MSSQL on machine B stops.

ok, so that is the 4th-grade overview.

i ve done this before with other firewall programs, should be as simple as opening port 1433.

i ve found this not to be the case with avast. INTERNET SUCURITY.

i go to settings - active protection - firewall click gear icon for settings - packet rules and

add a new entry name sql action allow protocol tcp/upd direction in/out address local port 1433 remote port 1433

having the same issues..The connection has timed out

The server at adverts.local is taking too long to respond.

in my host file i have 127.0.0.1 adverts.local

if i disable the firewall component it works no problemo.. but with it active it times out like 90 of the time.. some times it works sometimes it doesnt.. its infuriating. also disable permanently till next restart in avast land it seems since i did a restart ad voila it started the firewall again

ive done the settings - troubleshooting - web - redirect stuff as per my screenshot.. still doesnt bloody work. when the time comes to upgrade my licence i dont think i ll be doing so

Anyone have a guide to get rid of the useless pop-ups.

The ONLY ones I want to show are when it finds something or has protected me, etc.  Those things.  The useful ones.

The ones I DON T want are Pro for cheaper or Take a Selfie Dear GOD no, etc.  These things.  The useless ones.

So what you are saying is what I and appears to be others want is unable to be done.

Correct, the only way to avoid the adverts is to use Silent Gaming Mode . . then of course you get none of the info/warnings you want.

The reply from avast support,   to user Blove in post 4 of the thread I linked says it all.

Win8.1 Pro 64Bit  : KIS2014 : CryptoPrevent : Privazer:

That s real shoddy.  Avast. is big enough for them to be known and travel by word without these pop-ups.

Some users, like me, don t have the money or the need/want for features further than what the free version offers.  That alone, is why I highly suggest changes be made to allow these turned off without the turning off of all/the useful ones.

I ll stick around for now, I guess.  But one thing I can say is that I will not be suggesting Avast. to other people anymore.

These usually come when there is a vps update.

To get rid of these and still get the warning pop-ups

GUI Settings Update scroll down to details untick show notification after automatic update

It isn t the only method and it is possibly the worse of two options to use Silent/Gaming Mode has knock on effects on the rest of the program.

The very last post in that topic used as a reference shows the other option uncheck show notification after automatic update and that only impacts that one area of avast.

The resolution is to disable the auto update notification avastUI Settings Update - scroll down to Update Options and uncheck the Show notification box after automatic update.

Of course you then lose the auto update notification proper also. Depending on OS, you can hover the mouse over the avast tray icon and that will give a tool tip with the avast version and VPS.
