C&C Generals Singelplayer Cd-Key serial key or number

Hi, I know this is not in the right board, but I couldn't find one for C&C Generals. I have been having this problem where when I try to get online for command and conquer, it tells me that I have an invalid serial number. I bought this game about 7 days ago and received it in the mail yesterday.

I have tried contacting EA, but there has been no success. I went to their 'help' site, entered the information requested, but found that I couldn't call, chat, or email a representative. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling, but that hasn't worked. Please help me!

Next click on the little arrow next to the folder named HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and make your way to ergc directory the full path is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Wow6432Node -> Electronic Arts -> EA Games -> Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour -> ergc 3. Click on the ergc directory and right click on Default (located on the right side under Name) and Modify it. Now simply add the - between the serial numbers.Write it exactly how its written on the game you bought. If you notice It only displays your serial number without the - between the code so you will just need to add them in for example change it from 123A5678B8CDD3D3P0P0 to 123A-5678-B8CD-D3D3-P0P0 now try playing the same you should be able to play it online.

So I bought two copies of the C&C Ultimate Collection and I installed one on my computer and one on my fathers computer.  Yet, when we try and play Generals: Zero Hour LAN game and I try and join the game a message appears saying "serial key already in use."  I confirmed in Origin that we both had different keys and re-installed the game.

Note: I re-installed the game because I originally installed the game under my fathers Origin account.  I created an account and made sure the keys were different and still no luck.  Clearly that didn't help so I am looking for any suggestions?

I have read some similar posts about people getting this error message but no one with the two new games and separate codes.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks.
