PDF Snake is available with or without a hot-folder option that lets you automate page-imposition tasks. PDF Snake continually watches the hot folders. Put a document into a hot folder and PDF Snake will automatically impose it.
PDF Snake runs on Windows computers and requires a full commercial version of Adobe Acrobat (Adobe Acrobat Versions 4 through DC will work). PDF Snake will not work with the free Adobe Reader software. |
The PDF Snake software allows you to: - create booklets (saddle-stitched books)
- do n-up layouts and step-and-repeat layouts (arrange pages in columns and rows on a sheet)
- lay out pages on a background (the background could contain your company logo or a watermark, etc.)
- overlay pages with other pages — optionally, the overlays can be partially transparent
- add margins, gutters, and crop marks
- accommodate "creep" in a booklet
- rotate pages to any angle
- rearrange the order of pages, duplicating some or all pages if desired
- make pages larger or smaller by scaling them

- add Bates numbers (numbers with leading zeroes — useful for law firms and government agencies)

PDF Snake runs on Windows computers (most Windows versions will work).

Step and repeat. Arrange multiple copies of the same pages on larger sheets. Good for business cards, labels, postcards, etc. Also good for saving money on click fees — print two 8½" x 11" pages on an 11" x 17" sheet.
Tile (Split) pages. Split pages into multiple pages, or "tiles."
Modify whitespace at margins. Add or remove whitespace on some or all edges of page.
Re-position text & graphics on page. Move the text & graphics on page up, down, left, or right.
Rotate pages. You can rotate pages to any degree (not just 90-180-270).
Re-order pages. Reverse page order, user-specified re-ordering, more.
Odd/even pages. Manage odd and even pages separately.
Insert pages. Insert blank pages; specify their dimensions. Also insert pages from a PDF file.

| | Add PDF files as graphics. When you add a PDF file as a graphic, you can manipulate it (scale, rotate, etc.).
Sequential numbering. Add page numbers, Bates numbers, and other kinds of sequential numbers to pages or imposed sheets. Flexible numbering scheme: you can specify increment, you can repeat numbers, you can skip pages.
Text stamping. Add arbitrary text. Add variable text such as filename, date and time, page count.
Remove text and numbers. Remove sequential numbers, arbitrary text, and variable text added by Quite Imposing Plus.
Mask out text & graphics. Draw a rectangle with your mouse to create a white box that obscures whatever is "underneath" or "behind" the rectangle.
Remove masking. Remove the white boxes added by Quite Imposing Plus so the text & graphics "underneath" or "behind" the white boxes is no longer obscured.
Printer's marks. Add crop marks, registration marks, etc.

Setup is easy!
It's easy to set up Quite Hot Imposing.
Create the imposition scheme you want. There are several ways to do it. You can use Quite Hot Imposing itself, or you can use Quite Imposing Plus , or you can do it yourself with XML if you are a programmer.
Define hot folders. Next, use Quite Hot Imposing to define a set of hot folders for that particular imposition scheme.
Ready to go! Now you're ready to start using Quite Hot Imposing to impose files automatically. Just put a PDF file into the appropriate hot folder, and Quite Hot Imposing will generate a new PDF file containing the imposed document.
(If you're a programmer, you can invoke Quite Hot Imposing directly, without using hot folders.)
