MathWorks Matlab v5.3 serial key or number

IMPORTANT: If you are looking for the File Installation Key for the purposes of installing MATLAB on an offline machine, see"How can I install MATLAB or other MathWorks products on an offline machine?" for complete instructions. Entering a File Installation Key into a MATLAB installer downloaded directly from the MathWorks websitewill not enable you to install MATLAB on an offline machine.

Administrators

License administrators can obtain the Activation Key and File Installation Keys through through the "Advanced Options" button in the license center. To retrieve your Activation Key and File Installation Key, follow the steps below:

1. Log into the License Center here:http://www.mathworks.com/licensecenter
2. Select the desired license
3. Select the "Install and Activate" tab
4. Click on the "Advanced Options" button
5. The Activation Key along with the File Installation Key will appear on this screen. You can generate a File Installation Key for a different release using the drop down.

End Users

The File Installation Key is produced when you activate your license to a machine. See the following article for more information:

How do I activate MATLAB without an internet connection?

To retrieve a File Installation Key for a license which is already activated:

1. Log into the License Center here:http://www.mathworks.com/licensecenter
2. Click on the desired license
3. Select the "Install and Activate" tab
4. Click the blue arrow under "Get License File"
5. If you do not see the activated machine and blue arrow, press "Update License File" to open the correct menu
6. Select a release
7. Specify that the software is not yet installed
8. The File Installation Key will appear on this screen

End users who are not allowed to perform keyless activations must contact their license administrators to obtain a File Installation Key. End users must also contact license administrators to obtain the Activation Key regardless of their permissions. In the MathWorks License Center, click the "Contact Administrators" tab to get contact information for your license administrators.

If MATLAB is already installed:

The MATLAB command "license" will output your license number.

If MATLAB is not installed:

Go tohttp://www.mathworks.com/licensecenter/ and sign into your MathWorks account. This page will display all the licenses that your MathWorks Account are linked to. If you do not see any licenses on this page then click the "View Full License List" in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

If you still do not see any licenses in the license center:

- Make sure you are viewing the correct section of the License Center. Trial licenses are listed separately from Professional and Academic licenses. You can change this view using the drop down menu with orange text in the upper left hand corner of the License Center.

- You may be logged in with a different email address than the one your license is linked to. It is not unusual for people to have multiple MathWorks accounts, e.g. one for work and one for school. Click on your name in the upper right hand corner of the screen to confirm that the account you are logged with the correct email address.

- Your browser may have stale cache data or old cookies. Clear your browser cache, or sign in using a different web browser.

Alternatively, if you have received a license file from your license administrator, the file may contain the license number. Open the license file with plain text editor; the license number should be near the top of the file:

If you are still unable to ascertain your license number, speak with the members of your organization responsible for software license management. With some MATLAB license types, associating users to the license is optional, and in this case the license would not appear in your License Center.
