To get an installation serial number of a boxed product, you need first to activate it at the Acronis web site

The boxed versions of Acronis products produced after March 2, 2009 are shipped with 16-digit activation keys instead of product serial numbers. The serial number can be obtained by submitting the activation key and other necessary registration details either at the Boxed product registration page or on the registration page of your Acronis account.

Carefully read the printed instructions that you've received with the activation code. In some cases you will be told to redeem the activation code on a web page, different from https://www.acronis.com/my/box and https://account.acronis.com (for example, https://acronis.epayworldwide.com/)

Solution 1

1. Go to Boxed Product Registration page;
2. Submit the required details and your activation key. The confirmation prompt will be sent to the submitted E-mail address shortly;
3. Click the link in confirmation prompt or copy and paste the link into the address bar of your web browser. You will be redirected to Products page. The product serial number will be displayed among your registered products;
4. Use the displayed serial number to install the product.

Solution 2

Register the activation code as you would register a full serial number in your Acronis account (see this article for help) and obtain the full serial number in Products section.

Solution 3

Several Acronis resellers provide Acronis True Image serial numbers through Epay.
To get the license key, follow the link: https://acronis.epayworldwide.com/ and fill in your email address and the 10-digit retrieval code (retrieval code can be found inside the box/on the card provided with the purchase).

More information

• If the E-mail submitted at Boxed Product Registration page is already registered at the Acronis web site, the system will register the serial number to this account without sending any confirmation letters;
• If you already have an account, you can also submit your activation key by pressing Add keys at the general Products page.. The serial number will be registered to your account and the product will be displayed in Products section;
• The support services for the product will be activated as well and will be valid for 1 year starting from the registration date for Enterprise products or for 2 years from the registration date for Personal products;
• If you lost your serial number, you can always recover it from Products page.

To use Acronis True Image on a Windows computer or a Mac, you need to activate it via the Internet. Without activation the fully functional product works for 30 days. If you do not activate it during that period, all the program functions become unavailable except the recovery.

You can activate Acronis True Image either on your computer or from another computer, if your computer is not connected to the Internet.

Online activation method

If your computer is connected to the Internet, the product will be activated automatically when you sign in to your Acronis account.

• Acronis True Image Subscriptions are registered in the account automatically upon purchase. The account used for registration is tied to the email specified during purchase.

• Acronis True Image 1-Time Purchase Licenses (perpetual licenses) can be registered in the account or in the product interface, as described below.

If your serial number is not registered yet, you will be prompted to enter the serial number manually. Click Enter serial number, type in or paste the serial number, and click Activate.

Offline activation method

If the license cannot be activated online for any reason, follow instructions below to activate the license using the offline method:

1. Click on the Account tab on the left side bar, then click the small arrow icon next to Resolve activation problem to open a drop-down menu, and select Activate offline:
   
2. The program will generate an installation code. It uniquely identifies the computer where Acronis True Image is installed and what license serial number was entered. It is not the same thing as the license serial number, however. Save your installation code to a file by clicking the Save to file button, and specify a removable media as the file location (for example, a USB flash drive). You can also write down this code on a piece of paper.
   
3. Navigate to http://www.acronis.com/activation/ on a computer that has Internet connection. Click Load from file and select the file, saved in the previous step.
   
4. The Installation code field will be populated with the value from the file. Click Get activation code to proceed:
   
   
5. You will be shown the activation code (not to be confused with serial number or installation code). Click Save to file and save it to a removable disk.
   You can also copy the activation code to the clipboard and save it anywhere else, or write it down on a paper.
   
6. Back on the computer with Acronis True Image awaiting activation, click the Load from file button and select the file with the activation code from the previous step. You can also type the activation code manually into the box from the piece of paper.
   
7. Click Activate to verify the activation code:
   
   
8. The message The product has been successfully activated is displayed, indicating the procedure is completed successfully:
   

Troubleshooting

If you experience a problem with activating your Acronis True Image, check these articles:

When switching from trial to the full version, you only need to provide the serial number or log in to account with active subscription. No need to reinstall the product, all backups, syncs, and other settings will be kept.

If you have an account with active Acronis True Image Essential, Advanced or Premium subscription, you simply need to log in under your account and Acronis True Image 2021 will automatically switch from trial to full version if you have available seats or if you had previously activated an earlier version of Acronis True Image on this machine.

If you have a perpetual license or if your subscription license is not registered yet, then follow the steps below:

On a Windows computer

There are 2 possible ways to move to full version after you purchased the product (in case it did not activate automatically after purchase):

• If Acronis True Image (subscription or permanent key) is registered under your account, sign in to Acronis True Image to activate the product. Computer must have internet connection in order to activate via Acronis account
• If you haven't registered the product yet, provide the serial number directly in the product interface

1. Start Acronis True Image, and select Account on the sidebar;

2. On the Account screen, click Enter serial number:

   

   If your trial already expired you will not be able to reach Account screen: in this case click Enter serial number on trial expiration screen (or Sign in if you have available licenses registered)

   

3. Provide the serial number and click Activate:
   
4. If you have a subscription license, you will need to log in to your Acronis account to complete activation

If you have a box version of Acronis True Image, you can provide the activation code (16 digits) instead of the full serial number (64 digits). You will be prompted to log in to your Acronis account to register your copy of Acronis True Image or to create an account, if you don't have one yet. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Now you can use your Acronis True Image. On the Account tab, you can review license details, current build number, check for updates, and purchase additional licenses of Acronis True Image and/or move to a bigger Cloud Storage tier:

On a Mac

1. Open Acronis True Image and go to Account tab
2. Click Enter serial number
   
3. Insert the full serial number, and then click Activate:

   

4. If you have a subscription license, you will need to log in to your Acronis account to complete activation

 Now you can use your Acronis True Image.
